Early Career Researchers
Early career researchers (ECR) are a vital part of the SIPS community and play an important role in shaping the future of placebo and nocebo research. SIPS 2027 will support ECR participation through dedicated opportunities for building connections and professional development during the conference. Further information about ECR-focused initiatives, including the Summer School and travel grant support can be found below.
Summer School
The SIPS 2027 ECR Summer School will take place on 8 February 2027, the day before the main conference. It is intended to create a dedicated space for early career researchers to connect with peers, engage in professional development, and participate in focused discussion in a supportive interdisciplinary environment.
The Summer School will involve talks from senior researchers, speed networking (i.e., professional speed dating), lab demonstrations, and a social event. Attendance at the Summer School is free, but places are limited and participation will be subject to capacity. Further details about the program will be announced in due course.
Applications for the Summer School and travel grants are now open until 1 September 2026 11:59pm UTC.
Outcomes regarding both Summer School participation and travel grant applications will be communicated shortly after.
Travel Grants
Travel grants are available to support participation in the ECR Summer School and main conference. These grants are open to eligible applicants from around the world, with available funds distributed proportionally by location to support broad international participation. Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee that funding will be awarded.
Please note that travel grant support is tied to attendance at the ECR Summer School. Applicants may indicate their interest in being considered for a travel grant when applying for the Summer School. Travel grant funding will only be distributed after the conference, once attendance at both the Summer School and the main conference has been confirmed.
Travel grants are supported by the Collaboration Research Centre SFB/TRR 289 Treatment Expectation.
